    Required Qualifications

    Align with Trail Ahead Therapy’s values of trauma-informed, progressive, non-judgmental, non-pathologizing and client-centered mental health care.

    True passion for the mental health profession and genuine care for clients.

    Master’s degree or PhD in psychology, social work, counseling, or related field.

    Independent or Non-Independent Licensure, in good standing, in the state of New Mexico.

    Strong ability to work independently & solid interpersonal skills.

    Ability to maintain a caseload of a minimum of 25 completed sessions per week (for full-time positions).

    Committed to furthering knowledge in trauma-informed treatment modalities & practices.

    Follows their professional code of ethics and makes evidence-based decisions in their practice.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Bilingual in a language commonly used in New Mexico (ex. Spanish, Diné, ASL, etc.).

    Already work from a trauma-informed perspective and use evidence-based treatment modalities that work well within a trauma therapy framework (EMDR, SE, MI, TF-CBT, DBT, CPT, etc.).

    Experience working as a psychotherapist or in a setting where you were following treatment plans, providing assessments, and creating SMART Goals.

    Trail Ahead Therapy regularly serves as a practicum site for students who are in their final year of graduate school. We have previously worked with Highlands University, Southwestern College, Adam’s State, UNM and Prescott College. Trail Ahead serves as an immersive internship site, with students maintaining their own caseload, completing documentation, attending individual and peer supervision on a weekly basis, and are given the opportunity to attend our continuing education trainings. Students are offered $15 per clinical hour completed during their practicum.


    Required Qualifications

    Be enrolled in graduate school and preparing for your final internship. We do not accept first year Masters students.

    Have a genuine enthusiasm for psychotherapy as a practice & a profession.

    Ability to accept feedback and request help when needed.

    Strong writing capabilities, including clinical documentation and professional correspondence.

    Ability to collaborate with your supervisor and field instructor to complete school practicum requirements using skills such as time management & direct communication.

    Ability to handle private health information by following HIPAA and Trail Ahead Therapy’s policies & procedures.
